Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse in our outpatient oncology infusion department, you will play a critical role in providing therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, monoclonal antibody therapy, blood product transfusions, and support for radiation therapy and bone marrow transplants. You will utilize your clinical expertise and evidence-based practices throughout the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and outcome determination.
Your role includes ensuring compliance with safety protocols, cost containment measures, and quality improvement initiatives. You'll identify and prioritize patient care needs and align your activities with organizational goals while adhering to all compliance, policy, and regulatory requirements. Additional training and certifications may be required, such as ACLS, PALS, and chemotherapy/biotherapy certifications.
This position may require availability for shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call work.

Assist physicians with patient examinations, procedures, and care-related activities.
Coordinate patient appointments for diagnostic tests, referrals, and hospital admissions.
Monitor medical supplies and maintain the proper functioning of equipment.
Document vital signs and encounter data accurately in patient charts.
Process medication orders per physician instructions.
Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for use.
Handle clinically related phone calls and direct those needing physician attention.
Assist in completing medical history forms and paperwork for insurance.
Notify physicians of scheduling changes.
Apply advanced nursing skills and triage guidelines to prioritize patient care effectively.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education: An Associate's degree in Nursing is required; a Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a registered nurse.
In Lieu Of
Completion of a Nurse Residency Program from Prisma Health or another comparable organization can substitute for one year of registered nurse experience.
One year of licensed practical nurse (LPN) experience may also be accepted in lieu of the registered nurse experience requirement.
Required Certifications
Current Registered Nurse licensure in South Carolina is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Familiarity with patient equipment, including vital signs monitors, suction devices, and defibrillators.
